What does a 1-year warranty mean?
A warranty is an agreement with a manufacturer in which they will refund or exchange a certain product under certain conditions. These conditions are typically to do with whether or not an item is performing as the customer would wish.

So if a microwave is not heating food properly because it is not able to reach the necessary heat, this is a design fault. If the microwave is under manufacturer warranty, then the manufacturer will typically replace it free of charge or offer a full refund.
However, if there is a problem with an electrical product that is caused by the customer, then this will typically invalidate the warranty. So if water damage is done to an electrical item for example, this will not usually fall under the conditions of the warranty.
